Real Madrid have moved to deny reports that they have submitted a bid for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti.
Speculation has mounted that the Italian has courted interest from the Spanish giants, with the 22-year-old reportedly keen to join the Santiago Bernabeu club.
"In light of the rumours spread by various media outlets concerning an alleged offer on the part of Real Madrid for the player Marco Verratti, the club states that Real Madrid have not made any contact with PSG or the player's agent, and therefore these rumours are completely untrue," a club statement read.
Verratti has emerged as one of the game's hottest young properties since joining Les Parisiens for a reported £8m from Pescara in 2012.
He has 12 caps for Italy.
