Real Madrid withdraw from Neymar race?

Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo claims that Real Madrid are not attempting to sign Neymar before the end of the summer transfer window.

Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo has suggested that Real Madrid are not active in the race to sign Neymar.

The Brazil international has expressed a desire to leave the Parc des Princes, resulting in constant speculation regarding a return to Barcelona or a lucrative switch to the Bernabeu.

However, while Barcelona are continuing to try to strike a deal with the Ligue 1 champions, it appears that Real have ended their attempt to sign the 27-year-old.

Speaking to reporters in Paris, Leonardo said: "Barca did some important deals at the beginning of the window, but they are the sole candidates to sign Neymar."

Leonardo has also insisted that Barcelona are yet to put together an acceptable proposal ahead of Monday's deadline.
