David Alaba will reportedly be on the same salary as long-serving skipper Sergio Ramos when he joins Real Madrid this summer.
Versatile defender Alaba announced earlier this season that he will end his 13-year association with Bayern Munich at the end of the season.
Madrid are the strong favourites to sign the free agent, with an agreement rumoured to already be in place between the two parties.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Alaba will be paid around €12m (£10.44m) per season after tax, effectively matching Ramos's salary.
That will make the Austria international the joint-third highest-paid player at Madrid, behind only Eden Hazard and Gareth Bale, who earn a rumoured €15m (£13.1m).
Ramos's future remains uncertain heading into the transfer window, though, as he has yet to formally agree a new contract with Los Blancos and is free to talk to foreign clubs.
