FC Dallas have been held to a 1-1 draw at home to Real Salt Lake as a second-half goal from Emiliano Bonfigli ensured a point for the visitors.
Salt Lake started the brighter of the two sides and were almost ahead after two minutes when Paulo Jr put Alvaro Saborio through on goal, but the striker's shot was saved by Chris Seitz.
Dallas recovered from their sluggish start and their best chance of the game came in the 19th minute but Fabian Castillo's effort was kept out by Nick Rimando.
As the first half drew to a close Dallas were handed a brilliant opportunity to break the deadlock as Tony Beltran was adjudged to have handled in the area. Brek Shea calmly converted his penalty past the helpless Rimando with virtually the last kick of the first period.
Salt Lake almost levelled the match just moments after the restart but Javier Morales failed to hit the target with his effort from the corner of the box.
The away side continued to probe the Dallas defence and Seitz had to be at his best to deny a Paulo Jr header.
Salt Lake finally found an equaliser with 20 minutes remaining when substitute Bonfigli worked himself some space in the area before firing his shot past Seitz.
Although a grandstand finish looked to be in store, neither side looked capable of producing a winner in the closing stages and the points were shared.
