Real Sociedad midfielder Esteban Granero has undergone surgery on the cruciate ligament damage that he suffered against Shakhtar Donetsk on September 17.
The 26-year-old was stretched off in the closing stages of Sociedad's 2-0 defeat to the Ukrainian outfit on their return to the Champions League.
Initial reports were that the Spaniard would be out of action for six months, which is still believed to be the case after he underwent surgery at the end of last week.
Granero is currently on loan at the Spanish outfit from Queens Park Rangers, but it is believed that the move could be made permanent next summer.
