Chicago Fire 3-1 New York Red Bulls

Chicago Fire overcome the disappointment of being denied a blatant goal to record an impressive home win over New York Red Bulls.

Chicago Fire produced a stunning team performance to record a 3-1 win over New York Red Bulls in a match that was, once again, overshadowed by calls for goalline technology.

Patrick Nyarko's fourth-minute header had given Chicago a deserved half-time lead before Dax McCarty levelled the scores 10 minutes after the break.

Controversy struck 10 minutes later as Chris Rolfe sent Dominic Oduro clear on goal with a cute through ball.

New York goalkeeper Ryan Meara got a touch on Oduro's low shot but the ball slowly rolled a clear foot over the goalline before it was cleared away.

Oduro was shown a yellow card for his protestations, while the home crowd were equally incensed, especially after the incident was replayed on the big screen.

The hosts responded well after the incident and retook the lead 13 minutes later through a ferocious Gonzalo Segares strike from eight yards.

Fire then wrapped up the win nine minutes from time, as Rolfe scored for the first time since rejoining the franchise.

The 29-year-old, who has just returned from a spell with Danish side AaB, scored the 37th goal of his MLS career by tapping in from close range following a low cross by Nyarko.
