Thierry Henry's spectacular second-half strike has sent New York Red Bulls to second in the MLS Eastern Conference as they beat Chicago Fire 1-0 at the Red Bull Arena.
The visitors could have taken the lead after 13 minutes but Dan Gargan missed the target with his header from a corner.
Mehdi Ballouchy then had a good chance for the Red Bulls but was denied by a low save from Sean Johnson in the Chicago goal.
The hosts pushed forward towards the end of the first half as Ballouchy and Sebastien Le Toux both missed decent opportunities.
Henry nearly gave New York the lead just a minute after the restart when he flashed his header over the bar.
The Frenchman finally broke the deadlock with 20 minutes to play as he lashed in a sensational half-volley on the angle from the edge of the box.
