New York Red Bulls 1-0 Houston Dynamo

New York Red Bulls move up to second in the MLS Eastern Conference with a 1-0 win over Houston Dynamo at the Red Bull Arena.

New York Red Bulls have moved up to second in the MLS Eastern Conference after a narrow 1-0 win over Houston Dynamo at the Red Bull Arena.

The only goal of the game came after seven minutes when Kenny Cooper smashed home from inside of the area.

Houston fought back strongly for the remainder of the first half, but Cameron Weaver and Brad Davis were both denied by Ryan Meara in the New York goal.

The hosts nearly doubled their lead after the hour when Juan Agudelo's effort looked to be flying into the top corner. However, Tally Hall managed to make the save and keep his side in the match.

Despite both teams pushing for the next goal, neither goalkeeper was forced to work as Dax McCarty and Jermaine Taylor were just two of the players guilty of missing the target.
