New York Red Bulls sign Mike Grella

The New York Red Bulls complete the signing of free agent Mike Grella ahead of the new MLS season.

Former Leeds United striker Mike Grella has agreed a switch to the New York Red Bulls.

The 28-year-old has earned himself a deal following a trial stint with the Metros during their pre-season training break in Orlando.

"We're very pleased with what Mike has shown us. He embodies attributes we're looking for in terms of character and effort," sporting director Ali Curtis told the club's official website.

"We feel that he will add value to our roster and be a positive presence for our club on the field and in the locker room."

More recently, the former USA youth international had been playing in the North American Soccer League with the Carolina RailHawks.
