Shay Given says that he and his Republic of Ireland teammates are determined to give the Irish support something to cheer about against Italy.

Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Shay Given has said that he and his teammates are desperate to give their supporters something to cheer about at Euro 2012.

Given, who admits that Spain 'ripped them apart' in their Group C clash, insists that the supporters did not go unnoticed and that the national side are determined to give them something to go home with in their final match next week.

"Spain ripped us apart on a couple of occasions," he said.

"We had terrific support and we couldn't even give them one goal to cheer. We'd love to have a bit of pride and give our fans something to go home with. We would love to win against the Italians."

Meanwhile, teammate Simon Cox has urged the Irish to go out on a high.
