Seamus Coleman and John O'Shea have returned to training ahead of the Republic of Ireland's World Cup qualifier against Serbia on Monday night.
Both defenders were called up by Martin O'Neill despite having struggled with injuries so far this season, but they remain in contention to feature in Ireland's opening qualifier.
Coleman is yet to feature for Everton at all this season due to an ankle injury, while O'Shea has not played since limping out of Sunderland's derby defeat to Middlesbrough last month.
O'Shea spent extra time on Wearside to receive treatment on the injury before joining up with the squad on Wednesday.
The news will come as a boost to O'Neill after Everton midfielder James McCarthy was forced to withdraw from the squad yesterday due to a groin injury.
