Substitute Bilel Mohsni scores two late goals to help Southend United maintain their grip on top spot in League One this afternoon.

Two late goals from Bilel Mohsni allowed Southend United to maintain their grip on top spot in League Two this afternoon.

Kane Ferdinand put visiting Southend 1-0 up at Crewe Alexandra during the first half, but the home side struck back in the 74th minute courtesy of Harry Davis.

Mohsni had only been on the pitch four minutes when he put United in front in the 87th minute, before he sealed the points in stoppage time.

Second to Southend but only on goal difference are Crawley Town, who emerged victorious from the early kick-off away at Northampton Town thanks to a strike from leading goalscorer Matt Tubbs.

AFC Wimbledon leapfrogged opponents Morecambe into third position with a late victory at the Globe Arena. Stewart Drummond put hosts Morecambe in front, before goals from Jack Midson and Christian Jolley secured the points for Terry Brown's side.

Dagenham & Redbridge's slow start to the new season continued during their trip to Cheltenham Town. Striker Jon Nurse's goal was not enough for John Still's men who slumped to defeat with strikes either side of half-time from Alan Bennett and James Spencer.

Carl Fletcher's Plymouth Argyle remain bottom of the league despite recording a 2-2 draw with Accrington Stanley at Home Park.

Plymouth led 2-0 with goals from Simon Walton and Ladjie Soukouna, but they were pegged back in the second half by Kevin Long and Padraig Amond.

League Two results: Aldershot 1-2 Macclesfield; Bradford 1-0 Torquay; Cheltenham 2-1 Dag & Red; Crewe 1-3 Southend; Gillingham 1-1 Port Vale; Morecambe 1-2 AFC Wimbledon; Northampton 0-1 Crawley; Oxford 3-0 Bristol R; Plymouth 2-2 Accrington; Rotherham 0-1 Burton A; Shrewsbury 3-2 Barnet; Swindon 3-3 Hereford.
