Charlton end Huddersfield's 43 match unbeaten record with a 2-0 win at the Valley tonight.

Huddersfield's 43-match unbeaten run has finally come to an end after they lost 2-0 to league leaders Charlton at the Valley tonight.

Lee Clark's side went into the game having recently surpassed Nottingham Forest's record of 42 league games without defeat and with an eye on Arsenal's 49-match unbeaten sequence.

However it was not to be as Yann Kermorgant and Hogan Eprahim goals inflicted the Terriers' first loss of 2011 and sent Charlton seven points clear at the top of the table.

Opportunities were limited in the first half, in which possession was dominated by Huddersfield, but the home side displayed their attacking qualities by taking the period's only clear chances.

Kermorgant headed in from Danny Green's free kick to open the scoring with 23 minutes played.

On his full debut for the Addicks, Hogan Eprahim doubled his side's advantage by reacting quickest to slot home from Bradley Wright-Phillips parried shot.

The visitors were able to turn their possession into chances in the second period but were twice denied by the woodwork.

Substitute Danny Ward's cross-come-shot caught out Charlton keeper Ben Hamer but rebounded off the bar before Hamer turned Jon Parkin's volley onto the post.

Despite further Huddersfield pressure, Chris Powell's side hung on to claim victory and end the Terriers' historic run.
