Roma's summer signing Georginio Wijnaldum has fractured his leg in training.
The midfielder recently signed on a loan deal from Paris Saint-Germain and made his debut as a substitute against Salernitana in Roma's opening game of the season.
However, the former Liverpool player will miss Monday's encounter against newly-promoted Cremonese after Roma announced that Wijnaldum fractured his leg in training.
In a statement, Roma said: "Following an injury sustained during training this afternoon, Georginio Wijnaldum subsequently underwent medical tests that confirmed the presence of a fracture to the tibia in his right leg. The player will undergo further assessments in the coming days. FORZA GINI!"
After starting only 18 league games for PSG last season, the Dutchman moved to Italy in the hope of gaining more playing time under Jose Mourinho.
Wijnaldum now faces a wait to establish the extent of the injury, and whether it could affect his involvement in the World Cup for the Netherlands.
