New Roma coach Aurelio Andreazzoli believes that Pablo Osvaldo should not have taken the penalty in Roma's defeat to Sampdoria.
Osvaldo wasted Roma's chance to draw level when he hit a tame penalty in the 3-1 defeat to Genoa outfit in Serie A.
Andreazzoli insists that Francesco Totti should have stepped up for his side, but said that the result was not down to that one incident.
"Who is the designated penalty taker? For the last 20 years it has been Totti, so I'd assume him," said Andreazzoli.
"I cannot tell you why Osvaldo took the penalty. I haven't had a chance to ask him. Perhaps they had discussed it between themselves, I don't know.
"In any case, the whole match doesn't boil down to this one incident. We played very well and I am satisfied with the performance, as the lads did everything I asked of them."
Andreazzoli took over as Roma coach following the sacking of Zdenek Zeman.
