Rudi Garcia delighted with Roma win over Lazio

Rudi Garcia says that Roma have achieved a "great objective" by reaching the group stages of next season's Champions League, following their win over Lazio.

Roma manager Rudi Garcia has spoken of his delight after seeing his side beat fierce rivals Lazio in the Derby della Capitale this evening.

The Giallorossi claimed a 2-1 victory at the Stadio Olimpico to ensure a second-place finish in this season's Serie A and also a spot in the group stages of next season's Champions League.

"We prepared the game this way, the players had the right attitude and those who came off the bench did well," he told Sky Sport Italia.

"I compliment my lads, as it was not an easy game, but we did what we said we'd do. We wanted to win until the end and we did.

"It's a great objective we have achieved and now we can celebrate with our fans. It is so wonderful that we don't even need the final game."

Roma are back in action on Sunday evening, when they will end their season with a clash against Palermo.
