Kostas Manolas, Daniele De Rossi and Lorenzo Pellegrin find the net as Roma defeat Torino in Serie A to move up to third place in the standings.

Roma have moved up to third place in Serie A after second-half goals from Kostas Manolas, Daniele De Rossi and substitute Lorenzo Pellegrin helped them to a 3-0 victory over Torino at the Stadio Olimpico.

The visitors took the game to their opponents from the off and came close with 18 minutes played when Cristian Ansaldi gained possession in the Roma box following a corner and let fly, but his strike went high and wide.

Torino piled men forward on the half-hour mark and almost broke the deadlock when Alex Berenguer's pass was struck towards goalwards by Iago Falque, forcing a reaction save out of Alisson between the Roma sticks.

Five minutes later, Falque's low pass into the box presented Andrea Belotti with a shooting opportunity, though the striker failed to hit the target under pressure.

Roma remained under the cosh for the remainder of the first period, with Alisson pulling off further saves to deny Afriyie Acquah in the 43rd minute and Falque one minute later, but the second half was a different story.

Patrik Schick almost drew first blood for the home team moments after the restart when his header from Cengiz Under's cross was well saved by Salvatore Sirigu.

Roma went in front from a corner less than 10 minutes later, with Manolas jumping highest to meet Alessandro Florenzi's cross and plant a header into the centre of goal to make it 1-0.

After spending much of the first period under the cosh, Roma began to dominate the second and former Manchester City man Aleksandar Kolarov was next to try his luck, testing Sirigu from a tight angle.

They doubled their lead in the 73rd minute following a free kick, which Radja Nainggolan nodded into the path of De Rossi in front of goal, allowing the Italy international to bury from close range.

After going in front, Roma intercepted everything Torino threw at them until the final minute when M'Baye Niang's right-footed effort from outside the box got through, but it flew wide of Alisson's upright, much to the relief of the home support.

The hosts made the points safe with a blistering counter in the third minute of stoppage time, a move that ended with Nainggolan picking out Pellegrini and the substitute finding the bottom corner.

The result sees Roma extend their lead over local rivals Lazio to four points, with the two teams occupying third and fourth in Serie A respectively.

Torino, meanwhile, missed the chance to move above Atalanta and go eighth.
