Steve Evans: 'Rotherham United will prove critics wrong'

Rotherham United boss Steve Evans says that the Millers will prove the "numpties" who have criticised his team wrong.

Rotherham United manager Steve Evans has insisted that his side will prove the "numpties" who have criticised them wrong.

The Millers picked up their first win of the season as they beat Cardiff City 2-1 at the New York Stadium on Saturday.

Evans has claimed that the quality of his side's performance will keep the doubters quiet.

"Cardiff were full of quality and we gave them a bit of a hiding," the 52-year-old Scot told BBC Radio Sheffield.

"We're getting people fit so the numpties out there - there are a few that moan and groan - will realise it takes a bit of time when you bring players together to get a style and people ready to play.

"If people phoned up and said we were anything other than fantastic against Cardiff then they are Sheffield United or Sheffield Wednesday supporters."

Rotherham remain bottom of the Championship following the win.
