The FA announces that no England football team will face Russia in response to the recent invasion of Ukraine.

The FA has announced that no England football teams will play Russia in the "foreseeable future" following the invasion of Ukraine.

Since Russian forces invaded their neighbours under the orders of president Vladimir Putin, numerous sporting federations have taken action to protest against the conflicts.

Poland have confirmed that they will not play their World Cup 2022 Qualifying playoff semi-final with Russia, while the Czech Republic plan to boycott the playoff final should the tie materialise.

Now, the English FA have followed suit, with a statement reading: "Out of solidarity with Ukraine and to wholeheartedly condemn the atrocities being committed by the Russian leadership, The FA can confirm that we won't play Russia in any international fixtures for the foreseeable future. This includes any potential match at any level of senior, age group or para football."

Teams in England have been coming together before kickoff to protest against the war in Ukraine, with the Wembley arch being lit up in blue and yellow for the EFL Cup final in support of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's country.

The threat of frozen assets has also led Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich to relinquish his stewardship and care of the club, with Gary Neville describing the Russian's statement as "cowardly".
