Former England boss Fabio Capello is close to extending his contract with Russia.
Capello masterminded Russia's qualification to the 2014 World Cup, topping UEFA Group F ahead of Portugal.
Russian sports minister Vitaly Mutko is keen to reward the 67-year-old Italian with a new four-year deal.
"I can say that an agreement in principle between the coach and the Russian Football Union has been reached," Mutko told reporters.
"As far as I know, his lawyer will come to Moscow on November 21-22 and everything should be settled.
"There are several options for the date of the signing of the new agreement, but probably everything will be officially formalised after the draw for the World Cup finals."
Russia have played 14 games under Capello, winning eight, drawing four and losing just two.
