Schalke striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has claimed that his side "lacked determination" as they slumped to a 4-2 defeat at home to Athletic Bilbao in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final tie.
A brace from Fernando Llorente helped the Spaniards notch up four away goals on the night in Gelsenkirchen as they took a big step towards the semi-finals.
Despite the defeat, Huntelaar believes that his team have a slight chance of progressing.
"We didn't play well over the full 90 minutes. We didn't take our chances," he told Sat1. "We lacked determination. Then we fell apart a bit, and could no longer impose our game.
"Perhaps they think that they are already through. If we keep the pressure up, we can score a quick goal and then we'll see.
"We all need to do better, myself included."
Schalke will travel to the San Mames on Thursday for the second leg.
