The 25-year-old will officially join the League One club for one month on August 8.
The centre-back has been brought in to replace David Mirfin, who is due to miss the start of the season through injury.
Addison, who started his career with Derby County, spent part of the 2013-14 campaign on loan at Rotherham United.
