The 29-year-old has penned a two-year contract with the League One club.
King leaves Preston following a three-year spell at Deepdale.
"Shame to say bye to such a good set of lads but it's pastures new for me next season," he tweeted. "Time for a change of club and a new challenge."
King scored one goal in 28 appearances for Preston during the 2014-15 campaign.
