Sevilla boss Unai Emery believes that his side's danger on the counter-attack helped them overcome Elche on Sunday.
The Europa League winners recorded a 2-0 victory in the La Liga clash, moving into second spot in the table in the process.
"We have learned to endure bad times, because they have played well. We've had two major counter-attacks but we didn't dominate the opponent," he told AS.
"We struggled in the first half because we weren't together, while in the second we corrected those errors.
"The second half had more control but it doesn't guarantee that you win. We had to work had to beat a team that caused us problems. If they had found a little more in the first half we would have been in a bad position."
Carlos Bacca and Kevin Gameiro scored the goals for the visitors.
