Sevilla defender Nico Pareja hopes that his form this season will help him win a spot in the Argentina national team.
The 30-year-old impressed on loan at Sevilla last season and made his move permanent from Spartak Moscow this summer.
The centre-back has just one international cap, which he gained back in 2009 while representing Espanyol, but he believes that he can impress national team boss Gerardo Martino this term.
"You are forever hoping that you get the call to play for your country, which is the greatest pride a player can have, but to get that chance you have to play very well for your club," he told reporters.
"My head is now in Sevilla and I'm in the European window so maybe they will take a look."
Pareja started his professional career with Argentinos Juniors.
