Alvaro Negredo double inspires Sevilla to Mallorca victory

Sevilla twice come from behind to beat Mallorca 3-2 largely thanks to a brace from Spanish international Alvaro Negredo.

Alvaro Negredo netted a brace as Sevilla twice came from behind to claim a 3-2 victory over Mallorca in La Liga action tonight.

Sevilla started much the brighter and created several early opportunities, with Jesus Navas firing narrowly wide after gathering Fernando Navarro's pass.

Match-winner Negredo also had a pair of chances in the opening 20 minutes but was denied by blocks from Andreu Fontas and goalkeeper Dudu Aouate respectively.

Against the run of play, Mallorca took the lead as Pedro Bigas scored the first of three goals in a four-minute spell, chipping the ball over Andres Palop before rolling it in from close range.

The hosts responded almost instantly through Negredo's powerful strike, but Sevilla's parity last all of 60 seconds as Tomer Hemed shot low across Palop to restore Mallorca's advantage.

Spanish international Negredo again levelled the scores by heading home from Cicinho's cross, but this time Mallorca did not threaten to respond with a goal of their own.

Instead it was Sevilla who pushed for a winning effort, and after Negredo and Navas had both missed chances, Cicinho found the decisive goal with a smart finish from the edge of the area.

The result moves Sevilla into fifth spot in the table, while Mallorca remain in eighth position.
