Iago Aspas strikes late winner as Sevilla down 10-man Espanyol

Espanyol took the lead just before the quarter-hour mark when Christian Stuani tucked home a penalty following Beto's foul on Salva Sevilla in the box.

Sevilla responded well to going behind and levelled 10 minutes later in odd circumstances when Diogo Figueiras went in for a 50-50 challenge with Stuani and whacked the ball from at least 35 yards over Francisco Casilla and into the net.

Ten minutes before half time Sevilla completed the turnaround when Vitolo tapped home Aleix Vidal's cross.

It got worse for Espanyol before half time when Casilla was shown a straight red card for clearly handling the ball outside of the area.

Sevilla looked comfortable after half time, but they couldn't extend their lead as Vicente Iborra and Aspas both hit the woodwork within a couple of minutes.

The home side would regret those missed chances as Victor Sanchez curled home for Espanyol with 13 minutes remaining.

However, Sevilla would retake the lead in the 89th minute when Aspas drilled home, sending the hosts up to fourth in the table.
