Saturday's Championship predictions including Sheffield United vs. Bournemouth

Sports Mole provides score predictions and previews for all of today's Championship fixtures, including Sheffield United vs. Bournemouth.

Sheff Utd vs. Bournemouth (Saturday, 12.45pm)

Championship playoff hopefuls Sheffield United host a Bournemouth side who are still in the hotseat for automatic promotion despite suffering defeat in midweek.

The Blades are currently sixth in the table and two points ahead of seventh-place Middlesbrough, while the Cherries are second and six points clear of third-place Huddersfield Town.

We say: Sheffield United 1-1 Bournemouth

Bournemouth will not want to get into a rut and start looking nervously over their shoulder, so we expect a response from Scott Parker's side here. But Sheffield United have been invincible at home under Paul Heckingbottom and have plenty to play for themselves, so we think this game will end level.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 2.5 goals.

Blackburn vs. Blackpool (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Blackburn Rovers play host to Blackpool on Saturday afternoon knowing that only a win will do if they want to remain in close proximity to the Championship playoff places.

Meanwhile, Blackpool have recently dropped down to 16th position on the back of two successive defeats, and Neil Critchley's side may relish a second North-West derby in succession.

We say: Blackburn Rovers 2-1 Blackpool

With both clubs showing very little form, this is a difficult match to call. It may come down to who wants it most and with Rovers desperately needing three points to build some momentum, we are backing a narrow home win.

Our tipster partners are predicting a home win.

Bristol City vs. Peterborough (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Peterborough United make the trip to Ashton Gate to face Bristol City desperately requiring all three points to retain a chance of avoiding relegation from the Championship.

At a time when the visitors are 10 points adrift of safety with six matches remaining, Bristol City find themselves in 19th position in the standings after three matches without success.

We say: Bristol City 2-1 Peterborough United

With draws no longer good enough for Peterborough, we expect Posh to go on the attack at Ashton Gate. However, there has been little wrong with Bristol City's attacking play this campaign, and extra space could lead to a hard-fought success for the Robins.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 2.5 goals.

Middlesbrough vs. Hull City (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Middlesbrough play host to Hull City on Saturday afternoon requiring all three points to potentially move back into the Championship playoff positions.

Meanwhile, Hull make the trip to the Riverside Stadium looking for a maximum return which will realistically ensure that they are playing second-tier football next season.

We say: Middlesbrough 3-1 Hull City

With the pressure on Arveladze and his Hull squad to a certain degree, this does not represent a free hit as some may perceive it to be. That said, we still expect Boro to come through with another victory at the Riverside, potentially having to produce a strong closing half-hour to get over the line.

Our tipster partners are predicting a home win.

Millwall vs. Barnsley (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Millwall manager Gary Rowett on March 8, 2022© Reuters

Running out of time to escape the bottom three of the Championship table, Barnsley will travel to Millwall on Saturday desperate for three points.

The Tykes now find themselves eight points adrift of safety with only seven games left to play, albeit with a game in hand over 21st-placed Reading, while the hosts have only recently dropped out of contention in the playoff race.

We say: Millwall 1-1 Barnsley

We see Barnsley coming out firing as they desperately look to keep their survival hopes alive, and they should cause the hosts plenty of issues.

The Den is never an easy place to visit, though, and we expect the Lions to have enough to, at least, force a share of the spoils against a team with arguably more to play for.

Our tipster partners are predicting a home win.

Nott'm Forest vs. Birmingham (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper celebrates after the match on March 16, 2022© Reuters

Nottingham Forest play host to Birmingham City on Saturday afternoon looking for a victory which will strengthen their hold of a Championship playoff spot.

While Forest could potentially move into third position this weekend, Blues are looking to move closer to the 50-point mark now that their second-tier status has effectively been assured for another year.

We say: Nottingham Forest 2-0 Birmingham City

While Blues will be high in confidence after their recent form, a trip to the City Ground is currently the toughest test at this level. With that in mind, we expect another professional showing from Forest, who may score a goal in either half to make relatively light work of their opponents.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 2.5 goals.

Preston vs. QPR (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Preston North End's Cameron Archer celebrate scoring their first goal with teammates on March 5, 2022© Reuters

Queens Park Rangers will hope to arrest their slump in form and rescue their Championship playoff hopes when they travel to Preston North End on Saturday.

The Hoops are currently five points adrift of the top six in ninth place, while the 13th-placed Lilywhites saw their own playoff ambitions wane a while ago.

We say: Preston North End 0-0 Queens Park Rangers

QPR are stuck in an almighty rut but against a Preston side with little to play for they may have more of a chance of getting a point or three. It is rare that the Lilywhites roll over for teams though, so we think this game will end level.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 2.5 goals.

Reading vs. Cardiff (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Reading manager Paul Ince on March 12, 2022© Reuters

Reading will aim to take another step towards Championship survival when they host Cardiff City on Saturday afternoon.

Sitting 21st in the table, the Royals are currently eight points clear of the relegation zone, having played one game more than 22nd-place Barnsley. The Bluebirds sit 17th.

We say: Reading 2-0 Cardiff City

Reading are gradually building momentum and edging ever closer to safety, so we think they will get another important three points on the board at home. Cardiff have very little to play for and will be shaken by their derby defeat.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 2.5 goals.

Swansea vs. Derby (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Swansea City's Michael Obafemi celebrates scoring their first goal on February 13, 2022© Reuters

Derby County are running out of time to secure Championship survival as they travel to Swansea City on Saturday afternoon.

The Rams are currently 23rd in the table and nine points adrift of safety, while the Swans have very little to play for and sit 14th.

We say: Swansea City 2-1 Derby County

There is much more on the line for Derby but we cannot ignore the Rams' dreadful record away from home. Swansea are enjoying a good run of form and we think that the Welsh side will be victorious on this occasion.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 2.5 goals.

West Brom vs. Stoke (Saturday, 3.00pm)

West Bromwich Albion manager Steve Bruce on February 14, 2022© Reuters

West Bromwich Albion head into their showdown with Stoke City looking to eat further into a seven-point deficit to the Championship playoff spots.

At a time when the Baggies still have faint hopes of an immediate return to the Premier League, Stoke are down in 15th position in the standings after a disappointing defeat at Reading earlier this week.

We say: West Bromwich Albion 2-1 Stoke City

While West Brom are currently in the habit of raising their game against the better teams, that has not been the case against the rest of the division. That said, Stoke have been disappointing on their travels for some time, and it would come as a surprise if the Baggies do not edge this contest.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 2.5 goals.
