Sheffield United edge past Crawley

Jose Baxter scores the only goal of the game as Sheffield United edge past Crawley Town in League One.

Sheffield United edged past Crawley Town in front of 18,000 fans at Bramall Lane this afternoon.

The first half provided little in the way of goalmouth action, with both teams going into the dressing rooms with nothing but a booking apiece to boast after Chris Basham and Conor Henderson both went into the referee's book.

The Blades did not have to wait long to break the deadlock after the restart, however, with Jose Baxter converting a Craig Alcock pass to give the home side the lead.

United were able to hold on to their goal advantage and ended the day with all three points, with West Ham United in the League Cup next on the agenda for the League One side.
