Glenn Roeder: 'Dejphon Chansiri has great knowledge'

Sheffield Wednesday advisor Glenn Roeder believes that the club's owner Dejphon Chansiri knows more about football than he is letting on.

Glenn Roeder has said that new Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri knows more about football than he is letting on.

The Championship club have brought in Roeder as an advisor to the Thai businessman, who took control of the Owls last month.

Chansiri had previously professed to know little about football, suggesting it was his young son's love of the game that led him to purchase a club. However, former West Ham United boss Roeder says that Chansiri is being coy about his knowledge.

"He knows more about football than he lets on," Roeder told the Sheffield Star. "We want him involved in our discussions. He has invested his own money so is entitled to his own opinion.

"The three of us on the committee will all have opinions and we will discuss them. As football people with a lot of experience, we will come to the right decision as to whether we sign or release a player or take someone on loan or not.

"The chairman will be a part of that because he wants to be involved in all the decision-making."

Roeder will join former Hull City owner and chairman Adam Pearson and head coach Stuart Gray on a three-man sporting director committee at Wednesday.
