Matt Le Tissier: 'Southampton will take Europa League seriously'

Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier says that he believes that the club will be taking the Europa League seriously next season.

Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier has insisted that the club will take the challenge of competing in the Europa League next season seriously.

The Saints gained qualification into the tournament thanks to Arsenal's 4-0 FA Cup final victory over Aston Villa, with Le Tissier suggesting that the compeition will now be given serious thought by both the club's management and playing staff.

"For a club like Southampton who haven't experienced too much European football down the years I think it's a great achievement and one that the players and manager will look forward to and I feel will probably take seriously," Le Tissier told the Saints Podcast.

"You've just got to play every match that is put in front of you and as long as the squad is strengthened a little bit I'm sure we'll have enough quality to cope with all the competitions we're in."

Once underway, Ronald Koeman's men will be playing in their first European competition for 12 years.
