Nigel Adkins reveals that he has concerns over his future after Southampton slipped into the relegation zone with defeat at West Ham United.

Nigel Adkins has admitted that he is unsure if he will be given time to turn things round at Southampton after enduring a miserable day at West Ham United.

Saints slipped to a 4-1 defeat against the Hammers to drop into the relegation zone with just four points from eight games.

Defensive woes have blighted Adkins's attempts to provide Premier League stability at St Marys, with Saints conceding 16 goals in just four away matches this season.

Adkins admitted that he understands results must come quickly or he may find himself out of a job.

He said: "There needs to be stability at any football club, which is important. But I am not naive as it's football and football is a results-driven industry.

"I don't know what will happen. That is football, I am being brutally honest with you.

"On too many occasions this year in the Premier League, we've not kept it out of our net and I am being upfront and honest with you."

Saints have only managed to win one game since returning to the top flight, a home victory over Aston Villa last month.
