Southampton manager Nigel Adkins has reportedly been sacked by the club following an inconsistent term in the Premier League.
The Liverpool-born boss has been under pressure in recent months after experiencing a difficult first half of the club's campaign in the top flight since winning promotion from the Championship last season.
The South Coast outfit lingered in the bottom three of the table in the first few months of the season but they have since climbed up from the relegation zone, three points clear of the drop following a 2-2 draw with Chelsea this week.
While Adkins has maintained the stance that his job is safe, it is believed that the coach is on the verge of officially being dismissed, according to Goal.com.
Rumours regarding Adkins's position were rife after the odds of him getting the axe were slashed from 7/1 to 1/10.
