Nathaniel Clyne withdraws from England Under-21 squad

Southampton defender Nathaniel Clyne pulls out of the England Under-21 squad with a dead leg.

Southampton defender Nathaniel Clyne has pulled out of the England Under-21 squad for their upcoming European Championship playoff against Serbia due to a leg injury.

The 21-year-old is still suffering from a dead leg that he picked up in the Saints' 3-1 defeat against Everton at the end of September.

"Nathaniel has a dead leg that he picked up at Everton and had to come off which he hasn't recovered from. I would suggest that as he hasn't played [on Sunday], he won't be fit to go away with England," Southampton manager Nigel Adkins told reporters on Wednesday.

Clyne has been capped three previous times for the Under-21 side.
