Steven Davis: 'Top-four finish is possible for Southampton'

Southampton midfielder Steven Davis believes that the team is capable of qualifying for next season's Champions League.

Southampton midfielder Steven Davis has insisted that the team can qualify for next season's Champions League.

The Saints moved up to third place in the Premier League table on Sunday thanks to their 1-0 win away to Manchester United.

While he believes that it is important to remain realistic, Davis is confident that he and his teammates can achieve a top-four finish if they stay consistent.

"We're growing as a team and we know we can come against these teams and compete on a consistent basis," the 30-year-old Irishman told the club's official website.

"I think if, when we get to the end of January [to] end of February and we're in a similar position, then we can start to realistically go at [the Champions League].

"We're in a great position, we're enjoying our football, every game we look forward to and we can't ask for anything more at this point in time."

Southampton are back in action on Wednesday night when they travel to Ipswich Town for a third-round replay in the FA Cup.
