Jose Fonte backs Pablo Osvaldo

Southampton defender Jose Fonte backs Pablo Osvaldo to hit the goal trail this season.

Southampton defender Jose Fonte has backed Pablo Osvaldo to get among the goals this season.

The Italian has not scored for the Saints since arriving from Roma in the summer, but Fonte is confident that the 27-year-old will hit the goal trail.

"You can see in the game his quality, his movement," Fonte told PA. "He's creating, he's lively, he gives us something different.

"He gives us some speed and some penetration and some good skills. He's top class and I'm 100% confident the goals will come."

Osvaldo scored 17 times for Roma last season.
