Jose Fonte: Pablo Osvaldo scrap takes "time to heal"

Jose Fonte says that he has not yet recovered psychologically from Pablo Osvaldo's headbutt during a training-ground fight last month.

Southampton defender Jose Fonte has admitted that his training ground bust-up with teammate Pablo Osvaldo will "take time to heal".

The 30-year-old sustained a black eye after being headbutted by his Italian counterpart during training last month.

Osvaldo has since been loaned to Italian giants Juventus and, although Fonte claims to have received an apology from the striker, the Portuguese concedes that the psychological wounds have yet to close over.

"There have been a couple of text messages, apologising and stuff, but some things take time to heal," he told Sky Sports News. "Yeah, he left, obviously he left for a reason, and it was for the best for the team and the club.

"We move on, I've moved on and he has surely moved on as well, so everything is all right."

The Italy international struck just three times since sealing a club record move to the St Mary's Stadium last summer.
