Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has claimed that it may take time for Steven Caulker to adapt to the team's style.
Caulker has been relegated in the last two seasons with Cardiff City and Queens Park Rangers respectively, but he has been given another chance to display his talent in the Premier League with a loan move to St Mary's Stadium.
However, Koeman believes that the central defender will need to get used to Southampton's eagerness to retain possession at the back.
"Now he has to adapt to the system and how we like to play from the back," the Dutchman told reporters. "Maybe that is a little bit different than he normally is doing but he's got time for that."
Caulker could be involved when Southampton take on Vitesse in the Europa League on Thursday night.
