Adam Lallana impressed by Luke Shaw debut

Adam Lallana believes that Luke Shaw was "absolutely tremendous" on his England debut in the win over Denmark.

Adam Lallana has praised Southampton teammate Luke Shaw for producing an "absolutely tremendous" display on his debut for the England senior side earlier this week.

Shaw replaced Ashley Cole at half time in the 1-0 victory over Denmark at Wembley and Lallana believes that there is plenty more to come from the 18-year-old on the international stage.

"He was absolutely tremendous," Lallana told Southampton's official website. "It was there for everyone to see how relaxed and calm he was, how level-headed and how comfortable he looked out there.

"He's taken to it extremely well. He was nervous, but then again I was nervous and it was my third cap, and I'm 25 and he's 18.

"It's outstanding to see. He came on and showed the world really how confident and calm he is, and what an exceptionally talented left-back he is. That will be the first of many international caps."

Shaw and Lallana will be back in action for the Saints against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
