Claus Lundekvam: 'I will speak to FIFA'

Former Southampton captain Claus Lundekvam insists that he is willing to repeat his allegations of Premier League spot-fixing in front of FIFA.

Spot-fixing whistleblower Claus Lundekvam has insisted that he is willing to discuss his experiences with FIFA.

The former Southampton captain claimed earlier this week that he and fellow professionals used to win money fraudulently by placing bets on markets which they had control over, such as 'which team would win the first throw in of a match?'

Despite FIFA confirming on Wednesday that they were launching an investigation into his comments, Lundekvam is standing by his claims.

He told The Sun: "Of course I will talk to FIFA. I have no problem with that.

"Unfortunately I've been honest about it, so I need to. I don't know how it will work, if they will come to me and ask for an interview or clarification of what happened.

"I will obviously have some names and matches. But, to be honest, I wouldn't say any more than I have said already if I don't have to. I would not want to name anyone else. That's not for me to do but I will stand up for what I have said."

Former Saints teammates David Hirst and Francis Benali have both denied having any knowledge of illegal betting during their careers at The Dell.
