Mauricio Pochettino "proud" of Southampton despite defeat

Mauricio Pochettino says that he is "proud" of his Southampton team for their performance in the 3-1 defeat to West Ham United.

Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that he is "proud" of his Southampton team for their performance in the 3-1 defeat to West Ham United in the Premier League today.

Maya Yoshida's eighth-minute strike was shortly cancelled out by Matt Jarvis and Carlton Cole, before Kevin Nolan secured the points in the second half.

"I am very proud of the performance of the team," Pochettino told Sky Sports News. "It is clear that we created so many good chances and were unlucky not to take them.

"The result does not reflect on how we played, as we did quite well today."

The South-Coast outfit, who remain eighth in the standings, host Liverpool at St Mary's Stadium next weekend.
