Southampton record profit of £33.4m in year ending June 30, 2014

Southampton announce a profit of £33.4m, their first profit since going into administration back in 2009.

Southampton have recorded a profit of £33.4m in the year ending June 30, 2014.

The Premier League outfit released the figures this morning, indicating a positive financial state for the first time since the club plunged into administration in 2009.

Other figures include £106m in total revenue, which is an improvement on the £71.8m recorded in 2013 due to broadcasting income.

Chief executive Gareth Rogers told the club's official website: "There are lots of positives to take from these financial results. Recording the first profit and positive net asset position for the first time since administration in 2009 is very pleasing. It shows the health of the club and the Group is strong and the foundations are there to be built on."

A figure of £50m has been recorded as club debt.
