Ronald Koeman refutes Morgan Schneiderlin speculation

Ronald Koeman says that in-demand Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin is happy to stay at Southampton.

Southampton boss Ronald Koeman has dismissed speculation linking Morgan Schneiderlin with a summer move away.

Speculation is rife that Tottenham Hotspur will offer Andros Townsend and Benjamin Stambouli as makeweights to lower the Saints' reported £20m valuation.

However, the Dutchman says that the Frenchman, who will not play again this season through injury, is happy on the South Coast.

"He is a key player, so it is disappointing," Koeman told reporters of his injury. "It is the ligaments of his left knee and that is a shame because he's out for the last part of the season."

"He is happy [here], but it is up to the player. We like to keep everybody but we know sometimes it's difficult. But there isn't any serious bid for the player."

Koeman's charges face relegation-threatened Sunderland on Saturday.
