Southampton's Matt Targett 'heading to Fulham on loan'

Southampton full-back Matt Targett reportedly nears a loan move to Championship side Fulham.

Southampton full-back Matt Targett is reportedly on the verge of completing a six-month loan move to Fulham.

The 22-year-old will join the Championship outfit until the end of the season, according to The Sun.

Targett is expected to provide cover for in-form left-back Ryan Sessegnon at Fulham, who are currently 10th in the Championship.

The youngster, whose season has been marred by injury woes, has dropped down the pecking order at Southampton, with Sam McQueen serving as back-up for Ryan Bertrand in that position.

Targett was named as Southampton's young player of the season in the 2014-15 campaign, but has since failed to establish himself as a first-team regular.
