Report: Southampton target Connor Wickham as Rickie Lambert replacement

Connor Wickham is reportedly being tracked by Southampton as a potential replacement for Rickie Lambert, who left the club for Liverpool in June.

Southampton are reportedly eyeing a move for Sunderland's Connor Wickham as a replacement for Rickie Lambert.

Wickham, 21, scored some crucial goals for the Black Cats last season, which helped them to Premier League survival.

New Southampton boss Ronald Koeman is preparing to make a £6m bid for the striker to add competition for places in the squad after losing key players this summer, according to The Mirror.

Wickham's contract comes to an end next summer and Sunderland are keen to hold on to the young striker.

Lambert made the switch from St Mary's to Anfield in June for around £4m.
