Southampton are ready to spend £1m on Waasland-Beveren and Luxembourg international right-back Laurent Jans, according to reports.

Southampton have expressed an interest in signing Luxembourg international defender Laurent Jans, according to reports.

The 24-year-old right-back, who has 24 caps, has impressed for Belgian Pro League side Waasland-Beveren this season.

According to The Mirror, the Saints are prepared to spend £1m on Jans, who would become the Premier League's first Luxembourger should he sign at St Mary's.

Claude Puel is currently experiencing personnel problems at the back for Southampton, with Cedric Soares and Jeremy Pied suffering injuries and Cuco Martina struggling for consistent form.
