Southampton have reportedly agreed a club-record fee of around £21m for Lille attacker Sofiane Boufal.
The Saints have seen the likes of Sadio Mane and Graziano Pelle leave this summer, while Jay Rodriguez is understood to be on the verge of a loan switch to West Bromwich Albion.
That has prompted manager Claude Puel to return to his former club and sign Boufal, who only joined Lille from Angers last summer.
The Morocco international scored 11 league goals last season, but suffered a knee injury in May that is expected to keep him sidelined until next month.
However, Southampton are still keen to sign the 22-year-old for a fee that would break the previous record of £15m for Dani Osvaldo.
