Pep Guardiola believes that Spain will make history by winning an unprecedented third consecutive major trophy with a win over Italy in tonight's Euro 2012 final.

Pep Guardiola believes that Spain will retain their European crown tonight and win a record third consecutive major trophy.

The former Barcelona coach expects Vicente Del Bosque to deploy Cesc Fabregas as a 'False 9' system in tonight's Euro 2012 Final against Italy.

"I think Spain will win and make history, as no nation has ever won three Finals in six years," said the former Barcelona coach.

"Playing with or without a centre-forward doesn't make a big difference to the way Spain play. The team is in good hands and Vicente Del Bosque is the best possible coach for this group.

"There are many players capable of scoring, regardless of whether there is a centre-forward on the field."

The countdown to kick-off is underway for this evening's final in Kiev.
