Report: Joaquin Caparros favourite for Spain job

Former Granada boss Joaquin Caparros is the favourite to replace Vicente del Bosque as Spain boss after Euro 2016, according to a report.

Joaquin Caparros is reportedly the favourite to replace Vicente del Bosque as Spain boss following Euro 2016.

Del Bosque, 65, took charge of La Roja in 2008 and led the European nation to the 2010 World Cup crown and the European Championship title in 2012.

Although it has not yet been confirmed, Del Bosque is widely expected to stand down from his role as national team boss following the completion of Euro 2016, regardless of the outcome.

Paco Jemez, Unai Emery and Julen Lopetegui have all previously been linked with the role, but according to AS, Caparros is the RFEF's preferred choice to replace Del Bosque.

Caparros, who has recently been linked with the managerial roles at Malaga and Espanyol, has been without a club since leaving Granada in January 2015.

The 60-year-old has also previously managed the likes of Villarreal, Sevilla and Athletic Bilbao.
