Adrian strikes the post but Spain enter the break 0-0 with Morocco in their group stage match at Old Trafford.

Spain's poor fortune at the Olympic Games has continued after both the post and the referee denied them a first-half advantage against Morocco at Old Trafford.

The world and European champions have already been knocked out of the tournament courtesy of losses to Japan and Honduras in their opening two matches.

However, they promised to end the competition in style and would have gone into the break in front should Adrian's strike not have rebounded off the post.

The Atletico Madrid forward was played in beautifully by Juan Mata but his curling effort struck the woodwork and came out.

Mata was to be even more aggrieved moments later when the referee failed to spot a clear elbow on him by Zouhair Feddal.

The Moroccans did create chances of their own during the half, with both Zakaria Labyad and the impressive Abdelaziz Barrada going close.
